Paula Deen may have diabetes ya’ll

by

It ‘s all over the Internet that the Food Network grand dame Paula Deen may have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. If the rumor is true that she’s going to be the spokes person for a type 2 diabetes drug it would be an extraordinary misfit is she doesn’t have type 2 diabetes. Way to confirm the reputation of Friday the 13th being bad luck.

Back in October 2011, Paula Deen was a guest on The Dr. Oz Show. Deen professed her worst habits involve French fries and cigarettes. They are the sine qua non for her existence. Dr. Oz encouraged Deen to quit smoking. He assured her that he’d help her accomplish her goal and Deen agreed to become his health project.

Oprah did a show where she commended Paula Deen for all that she has achieved in life. This show aired on OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network in October 2011.  Oprah praised Deen’s  responsibility for achieving all that she has done in life.  The sentiment of the show was based on all the remarkable successes of Paula Deen. However maybe it was a foreshadow of what was to come?

Last year the National Enquirer revealed that Paula Deen had type 2 diabetes. I’m not confirming or denying the validity of their sources – but for a lady that has celebrated fat-laden foods like deep-fried Twinkies, peanut butter gooey cake, and bacon-wrapped breadsticks – is the National Enquirer really shocking us?

The word on the street is that Deen has partnered with a drug company. One guess would be that she is going to represent Novartis. Do they even have a type 2 diabetes drug on the market in the US?

The southern belle has not yet revealed her diabetes. She may not have diabetes but it’s a good thing that her son, Bobby, announced in December that he would host a cooking show featuring healthier versions of his mother’s meals. The name of the show is “Not My Mama’s Meals” and it is on the Cooking Channel.
