Our Story

The Diabetes Resource was co-founded in July 2008 by Gina Capone, diabetes advocate, social media entrepreneur, graphic designer and New York native, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2000 at the age of 25. She partnered with Landileigh Nelson, a diabetes activist and California native, who was diagnosed with Type “Other” after an attack of acute pancreatitis in July 2007.

We became frustrated by the conflicting, out-of-date and overwhelming amount of diabetes information on the Internet. So we founded TheDiabetesResource.com to provide the ultimate guide for everything diabetes-related. There is a desperate need in the DOC (Diabetes Online Community) for a one-stop-shop that provides verified website links, resources, support and expert information. We wanted to fill the void that has been missing for so long.

Now with over 13,000+ listings The Diabetes Resource is evolving into a comprehensive diabetes resource covering all aspects of diabetes.
